Total Elbow Replacement

Many people suffer elbow pain from arthritis. Reaching, light lifting, carrying objects and other routine movements that involve the elbow shouldn't hurt. But for people with arthritis of the elbow, these tasks can indeed be painful, and the stiffness can be severely limiting. Patients may experience arthritis pain in the elbow even when they are not using their arm. Many times this pain happens at night, preventing sleep. Others may experience difficulty positioning their hand for even simple tasks.

When pain becomes severe and movements become limited and disabling, total elbow

replacement may be an option. Most patients who have their elbow replaced have rheumatoid arthritis, but traumatic, athletic, and repetitive stress injuries to the elbow can also lead to joint replacement.

If the pain in your elbow interferes with your life despite non-surgical treatments, you may be a candidate for elbow replacement.
